What should one expect from Scott Gets Fit?

This blog is all about helping me lose some weight (and believe me I have plenty to spare). The only way that you can succeed is if you have a plan, and that’s where the blog comes in.

Goal

I want to get rid of 80 pounds in 8 months. Some people tell me that 1 - 2 pounds a week is a more manageable goal (that would be about 64 pounds in 8 months) but I say nuts to that. I’m going to work my butt off (literally! Ha! Get it?) to attain my goal (and then I’ll be all sexxy and stuff and the ladies will be interested in me, but I won’t be interested in them since they obviously just want to use me for my smokin bod. Where were you when I was 80 pounds heavier?! Huh?!).

The Plan

Now that I have a goal how do I get there? And why the hell do I need a blog to help me?

I’ll be posting the following things on this blog:

  • Once a week I’ll post my weight
  • Every day I will post what I ate that day (exciting, huh?)
  • At some interval I will post pictures to gauge progress
  • I’ll whine a lot about exercising

Lifestyle changes

Clearly, I can’t get rid of the pounds if I don’t change the way I live my life (forever). Effective immediately I will be taking the following steps:

  • Today I had my last sip of sweet, sweet Pepsi for awhile
  • Eating after 9pm is no longer allowed, I’ll drink some water instead
  • I will walk home from work at least 2 times a week, and break a sweat doing so
  • I’ll soon be joining a gym and, like, working out

Will all of this transform my keg into a six pack? Nope, but it will make it into a mini-keg and besides, the ladies like guys with a little meat on their bones, right? Right?! Someone please agree with me!

Oh, and I probably won’t die of a heart attack if I do all this crap (hopefully).

  • What gym are you joining? Ananda is nice, with focused attention if you’re looking for that - and a little bit of a walk for ya (4th and walnut). :-D

  • You should add your name to “the diet”, which is essentially the best support group ever. And then, join the flickr group for when you post your photos.

Great job on deciding to do this.

  • Scott, rock on, man! It’ll work. A friend of mine, who carried around some weight for a while, lost 85 lbs this past year…and it followed your plan. She tracked what she ate, didn’t eat late, and exercised. It super worked. She said it wasn’t a diet, that’s the cool part - it’s a lifestyle change.

I had a pic taken of me coming out of the surf in NC recently that looked like one of those “before” pix for Metabolife. Ugh. So, I’m going with the Think57 Plan…my plan for 57 lbs…back to my fighting weight.

I’m cheering you on. And it’ll work. WTG.

  • If you get bored of water at night, try adding some lemon or lime. It makes it more interesting (okay, only slightly so, but still!) and apparently speeds up your metabolism (I think I read that somewhere… and really how much could it really do? at least, I don’t think it can hurt!).

Good luck. Good for you for coming up with a plan. And I have to say that blogging it sounds like a good idea, because if you ever want to talk yourself out of exercising, you know you won’t be able to, or else what are you going to blog about?

  • […] One might think that the hardest part of my lifestyle changes would be the great Pepsi Ban. The first few days without Pepsi were rough, I’ll admit it, but now that they are behind me it has been smooth sailing. I really don’t crave Pepsi (though I still want it), so I think of that as progress. […]

  • […] might have noticed that I have reached my first goal of 80 pounds weight lose, but did I do it in 8 months? I actually hit 303 early in April, but I was […]
