Good idea, Jessie. You could get a GPS wristwatch device that will track where you go. I have an older version of this one and it's pretty cool to mess around with.

i highly recommend the pedometer thing. it makes it like a game, and it's a fun gadget, which you should like! i have one and insisted on wearing it everywhere for the first few weeks.

10,000 steps a day. That's a winner. And can be done. Pedometers at City Sports are the fix. Some great ones for $25.

The good news, for the walking, is the weather is getting cooler and cooler. This one ought to be very doable for the next 3 months.

Best of luck!

Things that you'll shrug off as bullshit platitudes but really not intended to be bullshit:
1 - since you're going for a lifestyle change and not a temporary sacrifice, it's not the end of the world if you cheat (no matter how bad the cheat is) AS LONG AS you pick yourself up and go back to trying
2 - It is VERY VERY likely you'll plateau at least once. It makes it hard to keep going when you are being perfectly ON TARGET as well as behavior and the scale does not budge, but you need to keep working thru it. A long term high weight loss goal is hard for your body to understand and it will resist the weight loss.

The "head game" is crucial to weight loss and I am still trying to get mine back after a long stretch (I went 2 months without losing a pound and let a lot of very good habits go out of frustration and a year later still haven't gotten back where I need to be).

Best of luck!!!!!!
